Lindsay Dec

History: After being a Licensed Massage Therapist for over a decade, I wanted to help people in a new way. I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health from OSU-Cascades campus in June of 2014. I practiced at Bend Counseling & Biofeedback for over 4 years before moving to Portland in January 2018. I had a private practice in Portland until I relocated to Venice, Florida in 2020.

Education & Credentials: While in graduate school, I also earned a certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology from Portland State University. I'm a trained practitioner in HeartMath Biofeedback, HEG Neurofeedback, Brain-Trainer Neurofeedback and the Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS). I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Florida.

My approach: I practice counseling along with biofeedback and neurofeedback. I include CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based techniques to help clients address their brain, mind, and body. I strive to create a safe, comfortable environment free of judgment. We will develop a collaborative relationship to work toward your goals.

Volunteer: As a way to give back, I'm on the OSU-Cascades Advisory Board for the counseling program and I’m a committee member and subject matter expert with the National Board of Certified Counselors for the NCMHCE exam.

Personal: I love living in Florida. My family vacationed here when I was a child and it has always felt like a magical place to me. My hobbies include board games, reading, learning, playing with my nieces, spending time with friends and family, and exploring outdoors.

PJ

History: PJ, the Yorkie-Poo was born on New Year’s Day in 2017. She started working with clients at 8 weeks old and has been brightening days left and right ever since. She is now a 10 pound rascal with a big heart. PJ is from Oregon, but is quite happy to be living in Florida. PJ also worked at Bend Counseling & Biofeedback and in private practice.

Education & Credentials: PJ and I are a registered therapy team through Pet Partners. PJ earned her AKC STAR Puppy certification and then her K9 Good Citizen medal. PJ has had a lot of training classes. Among her favorites were a K-9 Sniff class and an Agility class.

PJ’s Approach: PJ will welcome you to the office and will show off a trick or two, and then stare until she gets a treat. During your session, PJ is available for snuggling, but she is also happy to relax on her bed. PJ also enjoys sitting with clients while they do Neurofeedback. PJ is also nonjudgmental and helps create a safe space for you.

Volunteer: PJ plans to volunteer through Pet Partners once she is settled in her new life in Florida. For now, she volunteers to calm down Lindsay’s baby niece when the baby is crying. PJ always cheers up the little one.

Personal: PJ’s favorite hobbies include playing at the beach, playing at Paw Parks, and playing fetch. PJ has a lot to teach the world about the power of play. PJ also enjoys learning new tricks and taking car rides. PJ naps a lot. She knows sleep is important for health and vitality.
